Chef Brett's Homemade Pizza

Nothing says Friday night like a delicious pizza. And tonight, our little Brett decided to make us one from scratch. We stopped by the store and picked up dough and the other ingredients needed for his meal. We buy the dough fresh in our deli and also bought fresh, individual containers of pizza sauce, sausage and pepperoni. It's so much better than the pre-packaged stuff off the shelves!

Ingredients:

pizza dough
pizza sauce
pizza toppings (we used sausage, pepperoni and shredded cheese)
olive oil
flour

First, you need to sprinkle flour on a cookie sheet so that the dough doesn't stick.

The next step is to stretch the dough into the shape of a pizza. This part proved to be the most difficult, as every time he'd get it into a circle, it would shrink back into a ball. He experimented with hanging it down and spinning it and eventually got it into the sort-of shape he was hoping for.

Brush olive oil on the pizza to help make the dough crispy.

And then spread the sauce, and other ingredients across the dough.

We have a wide variety of favorites in our family, so Brett accommodated with a sausage/pepperoni section, a just pepperoni section and a simply cheese section. His words, not mine. =)

Pizza is ready for the oven. 350 for about 20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown, seemed to be perfect.

It may not be the prettiest pizza, but it was delicious! I was going to get a picture of the slice I ate, but I completely forgot! Must have been so good that I was wrapped up in the taste.

If I were making this for myself, I'd use fresh spinach, round tomato slices, olives, artichoke hearts and other fresh ingredients. The best part about homemade pizza is the easy ability to customize your choices. And who doesn't love pizza!?! Pretty much anytime the kids are involved in the cooking/baking process, they are willing to eat what they make. So it's a win win for everyone.

Can I get a T-G-I-F!?!?!!
First few days of school in the books and a busy weekend on the agenda!
